Jose if you are making a sprite, then you have to add the weapon in it, other wise you will have to code it in the game engine to keep the weapon fixed with the player hand position, which can be troublesome. It is much easier to create and use a new sprite by adding the item in the graphic rather than coding it.

Cool. This set is very good work. The only thing I don't like is the first throw frame in which the character is holding a carrot. The carrot, or any other item, should be completely independent of the player animation. That way we can use the entire animation for throwing anything (not just a carrot).
