Coming in from the US, it's audio composer OwlTheoryMusic, that are next up in our Member Spotlight. They've been on GDM since July 2019 and their collection of assets is primarily focused on RPG music packs.
Developer, Asset Creator or are you a bit of both?:
Asset Creator
Full Time, Part Time or Hobby?:
Part Time
How long have you been doing this?:
I've entered the gaming industry around 2018, and start putting out audio assets in 2020.
What made you become a dev/artist?:
As a music composer, I love music and I love gaming (as do most people). I thought, "Why not put the two together?"
It's fascinating to learn how games are created from the inside-out, especially when it comes to the audio-side (SFX, music, and integration).
Favourite software/tools to use?:
FL Studio, Audacity for music and SFX creation.
What’s one tip you would give to someone starting out?:
Seek genuine friendships with people in your industry. Don't just be "friends" with people for the sake of getting their business card and working with them. People work with people because they like them.
How do you promote your work (games or assets)?:
I promote my music through various gaming marketplaces (including GameDev Marketplace!). I also use Spotify, Apple Music, and other music streaming services.
What project are you working on now?:
The long-term projects I've a part of are Neko Ghost, Jump! (Burgos Games) and Five Heroes: The King's War (Banditos Studio).
Any completed projects/work you want to promote?:
Neko Ghost, Jump! (Burgos Games) is my favorite project that I've worked on.
We're in early access now, prepping for release soon.
And finally, favourite game ever & why?:
The whole Mass Effect series incredibly shaped my path as part of game design. Everything in that series is top-notch (story writing, characters, and the music!).
